RICHMOND-Hampton Roads will get a share $52 million in federal transportation money given to Virginia from other states.
VDOT plans to use the money for interstate repaving and rehabilitation projects, primarily on segments of I-264 and in on I-95 and I-85 in the Richmond region, Gov. Bob McDonnell said Thursday.
The money will be used for three separate I-264 projects in Virginia Beach from Witchduck Road to Parks Ave., VDOT spokeswoman Lauren Hansen told WVEC.com.
McDonnell said Virginia got the money from the Federal Highway Authority after several states didn't have their projects ready to go, so they had to return the money.
VDOT will make its recommendation to the Commonwealth Transportation Board later this month, which has the final approval on how money is spent on transportation improvements.
