High Rise Bridge to close for 1 hr. Sunday morning

CHESAPEAKE -- The Interstate 64 High Rise Bridge will close to vehicular traffic on Sunday, August 14, 2011, beginning at 6 a.m. Crews with Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) will be performing bridge maintenance requiring vehicular closure.

The bridge closure will last for approximately 60 minutes. Maritime traffic will not be impacted.

This work is part of ongoing maintenance. Additional closures have been scheduled as shown below.
Sunday, August 21    6:00  a.m. for 60 minutes
Sunday, August 28    6:00  a.m. for 60 minutes

These scheduled maintenance activities are weather dependent. VDOT will continue to update any changes to the proposed schedule as they occur. 

VDOT recommends motorists utilize the I-264 Downtown Tunnel or the Route 13 (Military Highway) Gilmerton Bridge as an alternate route during the roadway closure.
