SPECIAL NOTICE BERKLEY BRIDGE CLOSURE:  I-264 West Berkley Bridge will be closed to all vehicular traffic beginning Friday, April 23, at 8 p.m. through Monday, April 26, at 5 a.m.  Motorists should use the Midtown Tunnel, the Campostella Bridge or I-464 as alternate routes.

JAMES RIVER BRIDGE
Route 17 North/South – Motorists should expect single right lane closures from River Street to Kings Cove Way for gate installation, Monday, April 19, through Friday, April 23, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Route 17 North/South – Motorists should expect single lane closures from River Street to Kings Cove Way for gate installation, Tuesday, April 20, and Wednesday, April 21, from 7 p.m. to 3 p.m.  Motorists should expect two complete traffic stoppages southbound, between 9 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. and 11 p.m. and one traffic stoppage northbound from midnight to 12:30 a.m.
 
Route 17 North/South – Motorists should expect single lane closures over the James River Bridge for bridge deck repairs, Sunday, April 18, through Friday, April 23, from 6 p.m. to 5 a.m.

HAMPTON
I-64 East – Motorists should expect alternating lane closures from Hampton Roads Center Parkway (Exit 261) to Mallory Street (Exit 268) for guardrail replacement Monday, April 19, through Friday, April 23, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.

HAMPTON/NEWPORT NEWS
I-664 South – Motorists should expect single lane closures from Warwick Boulevard (Exit 5) to the I-64 Interchange (Exit 1) for concrete pavement repair, Sunday, April 18 through Friday, April 23, from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m.

HAMPTON/CHESAPEAKE
I-64 East/West – Motorists should expect mobile lane closures from Mallory Street (Exit 268) to Battlefield Boulevard (Exit 290) for vegetation spraying, Monday, April 19, and Tuesday, April 20, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

NEWPORT NEWS
Warwick Boulevard East/West
Route 60 – Motorists should expect multiple alternating lane closures for construction activities on Warwick Boulevard from Nettles Drive to J. Clyde Morris Blvd. Sunday through Saturday. Anticipate overnight lane closures from 7 p.m. to 6a.m. on both east and west bound lanes. Daytime lane closures should be expected daily from 6 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on east and west bound lanes. These lane closures will be in affect through project completion in May 2010.

-    Motorists should expect daytime and night time lane closures on Warwick Boulevard, both east and west bound for the duration of the project in order to complete paving operations, signalization and lighting installation, landscaping, & other work necessary to compete the project.  Business entrances could be impacted for short periods while paving machines move past the entrances.

MONITOR-MERRIMAC MEMORIAL BRIDGE-TUNNEL
I-664 NORTH – Motorists should expect alternating lane closures for monthly tunnel fire extinguisher inspections on Thursday, April 22, from 8 p.m. to 9 p.m.  Motorists may experience intermittent traffic stoppages up to 15 minutes in duration.

HAMPTON ROADS BRIDGE-TUNNEL
I-64 East – Motorists should expect alternating lane closures for monthly tunnel fire extinguisher inspections on Thursday, April 22, from 9 p.m. to 10 p.m.  Motorists may experience intermittent traffic stoppages up to 15 minutes in duration.

I-64 East – Motorist should expect overnight single lane closures Sunday, April 18 through Thursday, April 22, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. for the roadway lighting upgrade to the I-64 East Hampton Roads Bridge-Tunnel. Westbound traffic will not be affected and no weekend closures are planned. The project is scheduled for completion in spring 2011.
Motorists are encouraged to use I-664 Monitor Merrimac Memorial Bridge Tunnel to avoid delays.  Take Exit 264 to access I-664.  Use exit 15A for Norfolk and Virginia Beach destinations.  Use exit 15B for Chesapeake and Outer Banks destinations.

DOWNTOWN TUNNEL
I-264 East – Motorists should expect mobile lane closures for tunnel sweeping, Tuesday April 20, from midnight to 5 a.m.

MIDTOWN TUNNEL
Route 58 East/West – Motorists should expect alternating lane closures in the Midtown Tunnel for tunnel drain cleaning, Sunday, April 18, through Thursday, April 22, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.

NORFOLK
I-64 East – Motorists should expect mobile lane closures from Bay View Avenue (Exit 274) to Chesapeake Boulevard (Exit 278) for pothole repairs, Sunday, April 18, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.

I-64 East – Motorists should expect mobile lane closures from the I-264 Interchange (Exit 284) to Chesapeake Boulevard (Exit 278) for pothole repairs, Monday, April 19, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.

I-264 East – Motorists should expect mobile lane closures from Waterside Drive (Exit 9) to Newtown Road (Exit 15) for pothole repairs, Sunday, April 18, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.

Hampton Boulevard Grading Project
Motorists should expect multiple lane closures, both north and south bound on Hampton Boulevard between “B” Avenue and Rogers Avenue for utility operations, Monday, April 19, through Friday, April 23, daily from 9 a.m. and 2:30 p.m., nightly from Monday, April 20, through Thursday, April 22, from 5 p.m. to 5 a.m.

Portions of Greenbrier Avenue will be closed to all traffic through August 2010. A detour has been established.  Motorists should be alert to detour signs and new traffic patterns in the area.

Virginia Beach Boulevard East/West – Motorists should expect alternating single lane closures between Military Highway and Jett Street for concrete curbing and sidewalk construction from Monday, April 19, through Saturday, April 24, from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

LIGHT RAIL
E. Brambleton Avenue—Through late June, traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction at night on E. Brambleton Avenue at the light rail elevated crossing located near I-264 exit to just prior to Park Avenue.  The lane closures are necessary to complete overhead light rail station finishes and will be in effect between the hours of 7:30 p.m. and 5 a.m. daily.

DOWNTOWN
Waterside Drive—Beginning Monday, April 19, one lane will be closed in each direction on Waterside Drive between Martin’s Lane and E. Main Street.

CITYWIDE
W. Little Creek Road—Through mid-June, watch for alternating lane closures on W. Little Creek Road in both directions between Granby Street and Hampton Boulevard for random roadway repairs and installation of ADA ramps.

PORTSMOUTH/NORFOLK/VIRGINIA BEACH
I-264 East/West – Motorists should expect mobile lane closures from Greenwood Drive (Exit 2) to the Downtown Tunnel for vegetation spraying, Friday, April 23, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

PORTSMOUTH
I-264 East/West – Motorists should expect multiple lane closures between Frederick Boulevard and the Bowers Hill Interchange for paving operations, Sunday, April 18, through Friday, April 23, from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m.

CHESAPEAKE
I-64 East – Motorists should expect mobile lane closures from the I-264 Interchange (Exit 284) to the Greenbrier Parkway Interchange (Exit 289) for pothole repair, Tuesday, April 20, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.

I-64 East/West Restorative Pavement Project – Motorists should expect alternating lane closures from the Bowers Hill Interchange to the I-464 Interchange, daily from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. for restorative pavement maintenance work.  Work will include patching isolated concrete pavement, increasing the width of the inside shoulder and replacing two lifts of asphalt.  These paving operations will continue through August 2011.

Mt. Pleasant Road South/Fentress Airfield Road West – Motorists should expect a single lane closure on Mt. Pleasant Road and Fentress Airfield Road to Blackwater Road for utility relocation operations, Monday, April 19, through Friday, April 23, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Mt. Pleasant Road South/Fall Ridge Lane West – Motorists should expect a single lane closure on Mt. Pleasant Road and Fall Ridge Lane for utility relocation operations, Monday, April 19, through Friday, April 23, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

I-64 East/West – Motorists should expect multiple lane closures from George Washington Highway/Route 17 (Exit 296) to Battlefield Boulevard (Exit 290) for roadway and guardrail maintenance, Sunday, April 18, through Friday, April 23, from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.


VIRGINIA BEACH
Lynnhaven Parkway North/South – Motorists should expect alternating lane closures on Lynnhaven Parkway between Holland Road and Lishelle Place for crosswalk and paving operations, Monday, April 19, through Friday, April 23, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Witchduck Road North/South –Motorists should expect single lane closures from Bonney Road to the I-264 Interchange on Witchduck Road to North Amberly for drain pipe installation, Monday, April 19, through Friday, April 23, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

I-264 East – Motorists should expect mobile lane closures from Newtown Road (Exit 15) to Independence Boulevard (Exit 17) for pothole repair and roadway maintenance, Monday, April 19, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.

I-264 East – Motorists should expect mobile lane closures from Independence Boulevard (Exit 17) to Rosemont Road (Exit 18) for pothole repair and roadway maintenance, Tuesday, April 20, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.

I-264 East – Motorists should expect mobile lane closures from Rosemont Road (Exit 18) to Laskin Road (Exit 20) for pothole repair and roadway maintenance, Wednesday, April 21, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.

CHINCOTEAGUE ISLAND/ACCOMAC
Route 175 East/West – The new bridge is open to two-way traffic. Motorist may experience periodic lane closures on the new bridge through the month of April.
