Former Formula Vee world champ William Scott dies

SUMMIT POINT, W.Va. (AP) — Summit Point Motorsports Park owner William H. Scott, a former Formula Vee world champion, has died. He was 71.

 

Roger Lyle, a longtime friend and professional colleague, says Scott died Monday after battling cancer.

 

Scott's company, BSR Inc., also operates a driver training facility in Jefferson County where government agents hone their protection and anti-terrorism skills.

 

The Middleburg, Va., resident won the 1970 Formula Vee world championship, the 1969 Formula Ford championship and the 1968 European and U.S. Formula Vee championships.

 

Funeral services were scheduled for 11 a.m. Thursday at Trinity Episcopal Church, in Upperville, Va.
