CATAWBA, N.C. (AP) — As NASCAR begins its season-ending weekend, suspended driver Jeremy Mayfield is about 800 miles away selling his stuff.

Mayfield put on a giant auction on Friday with about $5 million worth of items ranging from a home, cars, dirt bikes and bulldozers to weed-whackers, humidifiers and sunglasses.

Mayfield said the money will help him in his court fight to be reinstated from a suspension for what he claims are false positive tests for methamphetamines. But auctions have also become a hobby.

Mayfield walked around his land with a smile, but also determined to prove that he's not a drug user. His wife, selling clothes and shoes in another section of the facility, took a harder stand against how others in the sport have treated them.
