UNDATED (AP) — No. 21 Fresno State helps kick off the bowl season by taking on Southern California in the Las Vegas Bowl. The Bulldogs missed out on a BCS bowl bid despite an 11-1 record. They can lessen some of that sting by posting the first 12-win season in school history and do it against one of the top programs in the land.

UNDATED (AP) — Three other bowl games are on tap today besides the Las Vegas Bowl matchup between Fresno State and Southern Cal. Washington State and Colorado State will meet in the New Mexico Bowl, Tulane takes on Louisiana-Lafayette in the New Orleans Bowl and the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl has San Diego State facing Buffalo.

SAN ANTONIO (AP) — The NBA's Western Conference-leading Oklahoma City Thunder take an eight-game winning streak into their meeting with the Spurs tonight in San Antonio. The Thunder top the league with a 21-4 mark, with all of its losses coming on the road. The Spurs lead the Southwest Division with a 21-5 mark and are a half-game behind Oklahoma City.

UNDATED (AP)— The Portland Trail Blazers are just percentage points in back of Oklahoma City for the lead in both the NBA's Northwest Division and the Western Conference. The Trail Blazers are at home to New Orleans, which has lost five of seven. The Pacific Division-leading Los Angeles Clippers carry a three-game winning streak into their home game against Denver.

UNDATED (AP) — A couple of red-hot NHL teams are in action today as part of the league's 12-game schedule. The Anaheim Ducks are riding a seven-game winning streak into their road game against the Islanders. And the Pittsburgh Penguins take a season-high six-game winning streak into an afternoon meeting with Calgary.
