Former world champion Blanka Vlasic will return to high jumping at the New York Diamond League next month after missing last season because of an ankle injury.
The 29-year-old Croatian, a two-time outdoor and indoor world champ, dominated high jump for five years before needing ankle surgery last year. She earned a silver medal at the Beijing Olympics and pulled out of the London Games when recovery from surgery was slower than expected.
Vlasic says she "can't wait" for the new season, "as if it was my first one."
The New York Diamond League meet is May 25, followed by the world championships in Moscow on Aug. 10.
