DUNEDIN, Fla. (AP) — Mark Buehrle was tagged for a two-run homer in his Toronto debut, and the Baltimore Orioles beat a Blue Jays split squad 5-4 on Sunday.
Buehrle allowed two runs and four hits over 1 1-3 innings in his first outing since the Miami Marlins sent him to Toronto as part of a blockbuster trade that also included Jose Reyes and Josh Johnson. The left-hander retired his first four batters before Lew Ford singled and Steve Pearce homered.
After singles by Danny Valencia and Taylor Teagarden, Buehrle was yanked.
Jair Jurrjens, signed by the Orioles to a minor league contract, allowed one run and two hits in two innings.
Jose Bautista hit a two-run homer for Toronto off Troy Patton. Reyes was 1 for 2 in his Blue Jays debut.
