LOS ANGELES (AP) — There's little rest for the L.A. Clippers, who go for their 16th straight victory tonight when they play at Utah. The Clippers ran their win streak to 15 last night with a 106-77 victory over the Boston Celtics

NEW YORK (AP) — The 14-14 Brooklyn Nets will have a new coach on the bench tonight against Charlotte. Assistant P.J. Carlesimo (kar-LIHS'-ih-moh) takes over on an interim basis following the firing yesterday of Avery Johnson after two-plus seasons.

DETROIT (AP) — The Miami Heat ride a six-game winning streak into the Motor City tonight when they play the Detroit Pistons. The Heat will be without guard Dwyane (dwayn) Wade, who has been suspended for this game without pay by the NBA for flailing his leg and making contact with the groin of Charlotte's Ramon Sessions.

SHREVEPORT, La. (AP) —The first of three more college bowls today is the Independence Bowl where Louisiana-Monroe plays Ohio in a matchup of 8-4 teams. Louisiana-Monroe is playing a postseason game for the first time since moving up to the Football Bowl Subdivision in 1994.

UNDATED (AP) — Rutgers and Virginia Tech hook up in the Russell Athletic Bowl later today in Orlando. The final bowl game of the night is the Meineke (MY'-neh-kee) Car Care Bowl in Houston where 7-5 Texas Tech plays 6-6 Minnesota.
