TAMPA, Fla. (AP) — After turning around a losing football program at Western Kentucky, 36-year-old Willie Taggart has been hired by South Florida to do the same thing. The former assistant to Jim Harbaugh at Stanford replaces Skip Holtz, who was booted following the worst season in USF's 16-year history.

ANN ARBOR, Mich. (AP) — A busy day of college basketball is getting under way with some top-10 action in Ann Arbor and Columbus. Third-ranked Michigan is hosting Arkansas and No. 7 Ohio State is home to Long Beach State.

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — The Commander-in-Chief's Trophy will be on the line today when the football teams from West Point and Annapolis take the field in Philadelphia. Navy has beaten Army ten times in a row.

ST. MORITZ, Switzerland (AP) — Lindsey Vonn won today's World Cup super-G in St. Mortiz, Switzerland, and fellow American Julia Mancuso took third place behind overall leader Tina Maze (MAH'-zeh) of Slovenia. Vonn is unbeaten in four speed races this season.

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (AP) — Sixth-ranked Shanshan Feng of China smoked the field at the Dubai Ladies Masters, winning by five shots after closing with a 3-under-par 69. Cindy LaCrosse was the top American finisher, and she was ten strokes off the pace.
