What's that old saying about "youth wasted on the young". Not so in the case of the Lake Taylor girls basketball team.
Of the six returning players from last year's 23-4, three are underclassmen. Among them is sophomore, Toia Giggetts. She's an offensive machine and in the same breath can imposing defensively.
"She's playing like I expected her to play", says her coach Saundra Sawyer. "She's answering the bell and doing her thing."
Is she ever? During a recent win over Bethel in the Ronald Curry Christmas Classic, Giggetts scored 7 of her teams first 9 points.
"I try to be everywhere", she says.
The scary part is that she's only going to get better, which will only serve notice to the rest of Hampton Roads, this youngster is not to be taken lightly.
