We saved one of our best for the last HS Gametime Athlete of the Week. Ethan Carter is all but untouchable as a pitcher for the Menchville Monarchs. He is so good that Gatorade recently honored him as the state of Virginia baseball player of the year.

He has all the numbers, including a 10-1 record his senior year with a 1.15 e.r.a. He has great control and outstanding velocity that helped him strike out 89 batters in 55 2/3 innings. He hits around 90 miles per hour on the radar gun.

Put those numbers together and it's no surprise the University of South Carolina will have him on scholarship next year. There is an "if" here. The major league baseball draft is coming up. Carter says he could be swayed to head to the minor leagues instead of college if it feels right. Listen to his thoughts on this and other topics in the video section of HS Gametime.com.
