GREENSBORO, NC  University of Virginia head coach Tony Bennett has been named the ACC Coach of the Year.   He led the Cavaliers to a 16-2 record in the ACC and Virginia's first outright ACC regular season championship in 33 years.

Bennett had 68 votes for the coaching award to six for North Carolina's Roy Williams. His Cavaliers — picked in the preseason to finish fourth in the league — finished 25-6, went 16-2 in the league and claimed the No. 1 seed in the ACC tournament, which begins Wednesday in Greensboro.

The Cavaliers will play Friday at noon against the winner of 8th seed Florida St. and 9th seed Maryland.

NC State's T.J. Warren was voted conference player of the year and Duke's Jabari Parker was voted top rookie.
