-Of course, you know to never leave a burning candle unattended, but
here are a few more tips.
-Colored candles can fade easily, so keep them out of direct sunlight
and store them in a cool dark place when not in use.
-Candles will burn longer and more evenly if they’re kept in the
refrigerator before using. Make sure to wrap them in plastic to keep the
wick from absorbing moisture.
-Always light new candles and allow them to burn for a minute then
extinguish the wick. This way, they’ll light more easily when you’re
ready to use them.
-To make sure candles burn evenly, keep the wicks trimmed to 1/4 of an
inch. If it gets too long, snip off with scissors.
-Votive candles are made from low melt wax, so the more snuggly they fit
in their container, the less wax will spread and the longer the candle
will last.
-Put a little water in the bottom of the votive container to keep melted
wax from sticking.
-Floating candles will burn longer if floated in warm water. You can
even color the water for a nice effect.
-Keep candles out of drafts because the air flow will increase the size
of the flame. Also, shorten the wax to extinguish the burning time of
the candle.
-Most candles smoke after blowing them out. To prevent this, just bend
the wick into the melted wax to extinguish the flame.
So there you have it, a few tips for holiday candles.
