--When buying hotdogs make sure that any liquid in the package is clear,
which is an indication of freshness.
--Hot dogs will last about a week in the refrigerator and can be kept
frozen for up to six months.
--Prepare hot dogs for the grill by pricking them with a fork. This will
allow some of fat to drain out and keep the dog from splitting.
--Then start the grilling process by roasting them slowly at the edge of
the grill, then finish them off by searing in the center where the
temperature is higher.
--For famous deli style dogs, steam them in a few inches of water until
they’re heated through.
--But hot dogs are great in the microwave too. Place an uncooked hotdog
in a bun then wrap it in a paper towel. Microwave on high for about one
minute. That will cook the dog and steam the bun at the same time.
--Be careful when you give hot dogs to small children because they can
choke. It’s safer to cut the dog into small strips before serving.
--You can make hot dogs a little more special by wrapping them
individually in crescent dough. Just bake according to package
directions.
--A hot dog octopus will be a hit with even the pickiest eaters. Just
serve on a bed of baked beans.
So there you have it - a few great tips to make your hot dog the top
dog.
