-The best lemonade is made from fresh lemons. You’ll need about 6 to 8
cups to get a cup of juice. To get the most juice out of a lemon, make
sure they’re room temperature and then roll the lemon on a hard surface.
This will crush the membrane and allow more to escape. A few seconds in
the microwave will help release juices as well.
-For tangy lemonade, figure on one cup of fresh lemon juice to 6 cups of
water.
-Sparkling lemonade is very refreshing. Just use sparkling water with
your favorite recipe.
-If your lemons are a little old, you can avoid a bitter aftertaste in
the lemonade by adding a pinch of salt.
-There are a lot of ways to sweeten lemondade. And if you use sugar,
it’s best use superfine because it will dissolve more easily.
-Instead of buying superfine sugar, you can make your own by blending
regular sugar in the food processor until it reaches a very fine
consistency.
-Lemonade sweetened with honey has a full rich flavor. The sweetness in
honey is more concentrated so use a little less then if you were
sweetening with sugar.
-Maple lemonade is an old fashioned treat and is made by blending equal
amounts of lemonade and apple juice. Then sweeten with a little maple
sugar.
-Don’t toss left over lemonade. Use it to make lemon ice cubes for iced
tea. Or you can add frozen fruit in place of ice cubes for a super
summer cooler.
So there you have it -- a few zesty ideas for lemonade.
