Voters in portions of Richmond and Virginia Beach have elected a Democrat and a Republican to fill two vacant House of Delegates seats.
With all precincts reporting, Richmond City Council member Delores McQuinn garnered 83 percent of Tuesday's vote to replace Delegate Dwight Jones, who is the city's new mayor. McQuinn, a Democrat, had no Republican opposition.
Republican Barry Knight beat Democrat John LaCombe with 83 percent of the vote for a seat in Virginia Beach. Republican Terrie Suit resigned from the House to become a lobbyist.
