The families of three Boy Scouts killed in a 2006 wreck have settled wrongful death lawsuits against the Boy Scouts of America and the estate of the assistant Scout leader who was driving.
John Oliver veered off a Southampton County road and hit a tree as they returned from a camping trip, killing 12-year-old Luke Drewry, 13-year-old Jackson Fox, 14-year-old Carter Stephenson and himself.
Court documents show the Fox and Stephenson families get $425,000 each from the organization's insurance company and $25,000 from Oliver's car insurance company. The Drewry family gets $550,000 from the Boy Scouts and $25,000 from Oliver's insurance.
The organization did not admit fault by agreeing to the settlement, and the families gave up their right to further legal action.
