New Goodwill Thrift Store opens in Va. Beach
05:58 PM EDT on Thursday, August 14, 2008
VIRGINIA BEACH -- It’s nearly back to school time.
Many students and parents are shopping for the new school year and they and other bargain hunters might want to check out the new Goodwill Thrift Store.
It opened Thursday in the Lynnhaven North Shopping Center and is the eighth one for the charity in Hampton Roads.
"Non-stop, steady," is how manager Danielle Cronin described this first day of sales. "It was amazing. At 9:00 a.m., we had a line at the door."
As 13News reported last month, thrift stores of all kinds are seeing a surge in business as the economy tightens.
"I always support Goodwill. Even if I keep something a week, I just love it. That's where I want to put my money," said shopper Donna Dambekalm.
