Memorial tonight for CNU student killed in crash

NEWPORT NEWS – A memorial will be held Tuesday night for a Christopher Newport University student killed in a three-vehicle crash.
William Schlifke, called Cameron by friends and family, died two days after his car was rear-ended at a stoplight on J. Clyde Morris Blvd. near Riverside Regional Medical Center.
Police say another CNU student, Eric Fowler, was speeding and crashed into Schlifke’s vehicle, which forced it into a third vehicle.
The crash occurred around 2:00 a.m. November 22. Schlifke died the following Monday,
The 7:00 p.m. memorial, set up by his fraternity, is at David Student Union on the CNU campus.
Fowler, meantime, faces several charges including DWI, involuntary manslaughter and underage possession of alcohol. He's due in court in February, according to the online court docket.
