FRANKLIN  -- A Suffolk man is charged in a child porn investigation that ran from Louisiana to Franklin and Suffolk and Va. Beach, authorities say.

From Franklin Police Dept.

Christopher Hicks

Authorities say Christopher Keith Hicks, 33, was arrested Friday in Franklin.

According to Lt. Tim Whitt, Hicks used the Franklin library computer to have sexually-explicit chats.  Whitt says Hicks unknowingly was chatting with investigators in Louisiana.

Those investigators contacted Va. Beach police, who contacted Franklin and Suffolk police.

Hicks was arrested while online at the library Friday, Whitt notes.

Hicks is in the Western Tidewater Regional Jail without bond.

An investigation by Suffolk police is ongoing, according to city spokeswoman Debbie George.

Hicks is charged with reproduce, sell, give, distribute, electronically transmit, display with lascivious intent, purchase or possess child pornography with the intent to sell, give, distribute, transmit or display with lascivious intent.
