Sen. Biden to "campaign for change" in Suffolk on Saturday
06:12 PM EDT on Thursday, October 23, 2008
SUFFOLK – Democratic vice presidential candidate Sen. Joe Biden (D-Delaware) will talk about the economy, health care and the Iraq War at a rally in Suffolk this Saturday.
It will be less than two weeks to the election when he stumps at Nansemond River High School at the “Change We Need” event.
The campaign says Biden will contrast the Democratic vision for America with John McCain’s plans for what is says will be “four more years of the same failed policies of the last eight.”
“We are providing administrative and custodial services as appropriate for this type of facility use,” said Suffolk Schools spokeswoman Bethanne Bradshaw.
She also said the school's gym is rated by the fire marshal to seat 1,200 in the bleachers. With chairs on the floor, the total capacity is 1,700. She stressed she's not aware of the arrangements the campaign is making.
Doors open at 9:00 a.m. and the program begins at 11:00 a.m.
The rally is open to the public, although campaign officials are encouraging people to RSVP at the Obama-Virginia Website.
For security reasons, no bags or umbrellas, signs or banners will be allowed, the campaign stressed.
Before campaigning in Suffolk, Biden will spend Friday at events in Danville and Martinsville.
