Local injury lawyer accused of assault
05:33 PM EDT on Friday, October 3, 2008
NORFOLK – You’ve likely seen the commercials, Lowell “The Hammer” Stanley, promising to make people pay.
Friday morning, he was in court, accused of assault.
Court documents show Dr. Abbot Granoff, who has an office next door, accuses Stanley of cursing him in the parking lot and office building and then hitting him in the leg with a mail basket while they were in an elevator.
“He alleged that i assaulted him with it. That is totally false,” Stanley says.
He says he never swore at Granoff or attacked him.
However, he admits he’s not taking justice for granted.
“Anytime anyone's charged with anything by anybody, no matter who they are, it is something you should take seriously and I'm taking it very serious,” he added.
Stanley is due in court again on November 21.
Dr. Granoff declined to comment.
