72-year-old Tom Lord, a history buff, is being treated for a gunshot to his right shoulder.

It came from a Colt revolver.

"I got a 44-caliber lead ball, entered from the rear, pushed a hole through my scapula," he said.

Lord says some of the people involved in the production perhaps weren't clear about the dangers of weapons from that era.

"This is what we think happened, that we had some people there that are not educated enough in the procedures we follow," he added.

The re-enactment took place at Heritage Park at 21311 Courthouse Highway in the Town of Windsor.

An investigation by the Isle of Wight County Sheriff's Office continues.
