WILLIAMSBURG – A man who abducted a woman from a grocery store parking lot Saturday night may be connected to similar incidents - one in Williamsburg and one in Newport News, WVEC.com has learned.

The gunman grabbed the 21-year-old woman outside Farm Fresh at 455 Merrimac Trail around 7:00 p.m., according to York-Poquoson investigators.

Authorities say she left a friend in the store while she went to her car but never returned. The friend called her cell phone and told investigators he thought he heard her being threatened.

Her car was missing from the parking lot.

She was found a couple of hours later.

Around 10:00 p.m. on August 30, a 26-year-old Williamsburg woman was abducted by a man believed to have gotten into her vehicle at WaWa in the area around Merrimac Trail and Capitol Landing Road.

Police say he ordered her to drive away where she was robbed and sexually assaulted.

She was later released.

On Tuesday, Newport News Police confirmed they're looking to see if there is any connection to a case last month

At the beginning of August, a 41-year-old woman reported being abducted from a business parking lot at Oyster Point and Jefferson Avenue around 8:00 p.m.

She was robbed and sexually assaulted before letting her go, police stated.

While not all the details fit, there are some similarities, a police spokeswoman said.

Williamsburg authorities say they don't have a detailed description of the suspect in the latest attack because he was wearing a mask, but they say he's black, about 5'7" tall and weighs about 185 pounds.

Spokeswoman Lt. Penny Diggs with the York-Poquoson Police Department reminds drivers to park in well-lit areas and lock the  doors and check the back seat before you get in.

If you know anything about this abduction, call Crime Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP.
