Man charged with June murder in Portsmouth

PORTSMOUTH – A Portsmouth man is charged with murder.
Mark Wallace White, 18, is accused of shooting Montale Maurice Smith, 27, early on the morning of June 14.
He was found dead in a home on Randolph Street.
Investigators said an argument escalated and that led to the shooting.
Another man was wounded and treated at the hospital.
White was arrested on Suburban Parkway on charges of murder, robbery, use of a firearm and an unrelated charge of extortion by threat, according to a police report.
