$340,000 in counterfeit clothing seized from Newport News business

NEWPORT NEWS -- Police say they've seized $340,000 in counterfeit clothing from a Newport News business and arrested the manager.
Authorities seized the clothing, two vans and $8,400 cash on July 1 from Kelly Fashion, booth B-1 inside Peddler's Village at 3311 Jefferson Avenue. One of the vans contained counterfeit shoes, according to investigators.
According to search warrants, Kim was selling items in his story and supplying other vendors.
They say allege Kim used his white van to bring the counterfeit items from New York.
Hyun Nam Kim, 36, of the 200 block of Pageland Drive in Yorktown, is in jail on charges of felony counterfeit infringement.
Police also say he's an illegal immgrant.
This is the third counterfeit clothing operation that Newport News Police Department has conducted in the past two years. On March 16, 2007, three locations throughout the city were raided, 11 search warrants were executed and approximately $2 million worth of counterfeit merchandise was seized. Then on August 27, 2008, 23 businesses inside Peddler’s Village were raided for counterfeit merchandise and approximately $2 million worth of merchandise was seized. During that operation, 10 individuals were arrested in connection with the counterfeit merchandise.
