CURRITUCK COUNTY, NC – 25 gallons of diesel fuel spilled when trucks collided on Highway 168 Wednesday morning.
The crash caused traffic problems for much of the day near Highway 34 in Currituck County.
The rigs have been moved from the roadway, but crews are dealing with the diesel that spilled on the highway and shoulder, explained county spokesman Randall Edwards.
Until the clean-up is complete, a detour for northbound 168 and Highway 34 traffic are in place.
Northbound motorists on 168 will be diverted onto Poyner’s Road approximately a quarter mile south of the 168 – 34 intersection. From Poyner’s Road, motorists will turn left onto Tulls Creek Road and follow Tulls Creek Rd. until it rejoins Highway 168 in Moyock.
On 34, motorists intending to turn north onto 168 are still diverted onto Snowden Road, and will follow that until it connects to 168 north of the accident scene.
