A Hampton woman has been arrested for allegedly giving her six-year-old son cocaine.

Sarah Letha Ezzell, 23, of the first block of Lawrence Avenue, was arrested Thursday afternoon.

Police say on July 27th, she mixed powder cocaine with a glass of water and gave it to her son to drink.

"I went next door to wash my laundry, and I came back. That's when I saw her pour something in a cup," said Ezzell's roommate, Stacey Daddysman.

She says Ezzell wouldn't tell her what she was giving her son to drink.

Friends and neighbors say the six-year-old is disabled, that he reportedly has trouble walking and swallowing.

A family member, who was not at home at the time, called an ambulance for the boy.

The boy was transported to a local hospital where he was treated and released.

Police say they do not know why Ezzell allegedly gave the child cocaine.

She has been charged with felony child abuse and adulteration of drink, and is currently in the Hampton City Jail.
