Man arrested for stealing safe from Gloucester marina restaurant

GLOUCESTER -- Authorities arrested a man driving a stolen jeep that was dragging a safe out of a Gloucester marina.
William Ikner, 24, of Williamsburg was spotted at Rivers Inn Restaurant on Yacht Haven Road around 6:00 a.m. Thursday, police say.
A witness called in the license plate number to authorities, who stopped the vehicle before it left the property.
Deputies say the Jeep had been stolen from James City County during the night.
Ikner faces burglary, grand larceny and other charges for the safe burglary at Rivers End Restaurant. He’s also charged with grand larceny for the Jeep theft.
