AHOSKIE, NC -- For the last for weeks, it’s been lights, camera action in the rural North Carolina community.
Nearly 100 crew members are in town for the feature independent film Mississippi Damned.
The movie brought people from Los Angeles, New York and many places in between to Ahoskie to bring the film to life. It is about a girl’s struggle to break out of her circumstances in rural Mississippi and her relationship with her family.
One of the producers grew up in Murfreesboro in Hertford County and worked with officials and local homeowners to transform North Carolina into Mississippi for a few weeks this summer.
