NEWPORT NEWS --  A 15-year-old Hampton boy will serve nearly six years for shooting a woman in a mall parking lot during the Christmas holiday.

Caleb Quinton Smith pleaded guilty to the December 4, 2007 shooting at Patrick Henry Mall. A 51-year-old woman was wounded in the hand and leg after refusing to hand over her shopping bag.

The plea deal called for more than 24 years of his sentence to be suspended and a gun charge was dropped.

Smith must be on good behavior for 20 years.
