Virginians can fish free for 3 days in June
02:45 PM EDT on Friday, May 9, 2008
NEWPORT NEWS (AP) -- For three days next month it won't cost a dime to reel in a big one.
Anglers will not need a saltwater or freshwater fishing license to fish in Virginia June 6 through June 8, except in designated stocked trout waters.
A Virginia saltwater fishing license costs $12.50 a year for state residents. A freshwater license or trout license costs $18 for residents.
Fishing regulations, such as size, season, catch limits and gear restrictions, will remain in effect during the free fishing days.
