VIRGINIA BEACH -- City inspectors have cited a Virginia Beach apartment complex for numerous electrical violations.
The Pines of Green Run had 3 fires in nine days last month. Two of them were electrical and similar in nature.
Inspectors say they visited the complex and identified violations relating to electrical wiring.
The Pines had to hire a certified electrician to inspect the complex, including work done by the maintenance staff and not electricians, as required by code, officials stated.
One resident said everyone's fuse box was checked, but he didn't know why it was being done.
In the 100-page inspection report are violations like rotten wood that didn't have electrical wires properly protected, gas lines with improper ventilation, new microwaves overloading circuits and meters that aren't weather tight.
