Town meeting on hurricanes tonight in Newport News

NEWPORT NEWS -- We’ve seen the devastation caused by Mother Nature when a tornado swept across Suffolk.
Hurricanes are a more common natural disaster for Hampton Roads and northeastern North Carolina.
The 2008 Atlantic Hurricane season begins on June 1.
A meeting in Newport News Monday night will give Central Precinct residents information on protecting themselves during and after a hurricane.
You’ll learn what to do if you’re left in the dark, left behind during an evacuation or if you be come a victim of crime.
Instructions will be provided by the Office of the Emergency Management, Newport News Police Investigations and Community Resource Officers.
The meeting begins at 7:00 p.m. at police headquarters at 9710 Jefferson Avenue.
