Canon Virginia Inc. to invest $600 million in Hampton Roads

NORFOLK -- Thursday, Gov. Tim Kaine announced Canon Virginia Inc. plans to invest more than $600 million in Hampton Roads.
The company plans to expand its operations in Newport News, which involves creating 1,000 new jobs. It plans to also invest in its IRT subsidiary in Gloucester County.
Gov. Kaine described the news as "spectacular."
"Canon Virginia has been a significant corporate partner in Newport News and the Commonwealth for 23 years, and employs nearly 1,500 Virginians," he said.
"We are excited about this tremendous opportunity to grow and expand our operations in Virginia," added Takayoshi Hanagata, President and CEO of Canon Virginia Inc.
Canon Virginia Inc is headquartered in Newport News and serves as the lead manufacturing support center for Canon U.S.A.
