Portsmouth police officer arrested for DUI

PORTSMOUTH -- In the early hours Thursday, police arrested an officer for a DUI.
Around 1:53 a.m., police say Officer Wayne Sherman's vehicle struck the rear end of a vehicle in front of him southbound on the Portsmouth side of the Midtown Tunnel.
Police say Sherman was off-duty at the time of the incident and was driving his personal vehicle.
Both Sherman and the driver of the other vehicle received treatment at a local hospital for minor injruies.
Sherman is charged with driving under the influence and is on leave as the investigation continues.
