03:35 PM EDT on Wednesday, April 15, 2009
CHESAPEAKE - Two teenagers, best friends, were shot to death inside a Chesapeake home early Wednesday morning.
Police were called to the 1000 block of Rowland Ave. shortly after 12:15 after someone reported hearing gunshots.
Mason Jones,16, of the 1100 block of Ferebee Avenue and Joshua Compton, 17, of the 1000 block of Rowland Avenue were killed.
Compton's aunt told 13News that her nephew and Jones were inside, playing with a Playstation, when they heard a knock at the door.
One of them went to answer the door and that’s when shots rang out.
Compton's parents were home at the time.
Chesapeake Public Schools spokesman Tom Cupitt told 13News that Jones attended Tidewater Regional Alternative Education in Norfolk. He said Compton most recently attended Oscar Smith High School but was no longer enrolled.
The investigation continues.
