Vandals tag Norfolk buildings with racially-charged words
05:28 PM EDT on Tuesday, April 15, 2008
NORFOLK – Graffiti, including racial slurs, was scrawled on several buildings near downtown.
The vandals spraypainted a home, some businesses on two blocks on Bute Street in the Freemason area, tagged the PETA office building and hit several garages.
“We have 11 different victims, vandalisms occurred sometime between 11:30 p.m. Monday and 6:00 a.m. today,” said Norfolk Police spokesman Chris Amos.
PETA spokeswoman Heather Carlson told WVEC.com that the vandalism is being painted over and it’s business as usual there.
If you know anything about this vandalism, call Crime Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP.
Amos says investigators don't believe the vandalism is work of “gangs.”
