Truck driver charged in rest stop killing arrested in Emporia

GREENSVILLE COUNTY -- A truck driver from Florida is charged with murder after allegedly stabbing and killing a man at a rest stop.

According to Sheriff James Edwards, deputies were called to the McDonald's in Loves Truck Stop on Moores Ferry Road in Skippers Tuesday afternoon.
He said Thomas London, Jr. tried to run down a deputy as he drove off and then led deputies and Virginia State Police on short chase southbound on Interstate 95.
London was stopped and arrested without incident at mile marker 2.
Investigators don't know what sparked the incident that left Gerald W. Brown, of Wilmington, North Carolina, dead.
Brown also was a trucker, Sheriff Edwards noted.
London, 31, is charged with first degree murder, attempted capital murder of a deputy, attempted malicious wounding of a clerk at the fuel desk and felony elude.
The deputy wasn't hurt.
The clerk wasn't hurt, but London came toward her with both knives, Sheriff Green added.
He said the weapons were recovered.
