Light rail construction to close Brambleton Ave. near NSU today

NORFOLK – Starting Tuesday for 10 days, a busy stretch of Brambleton Avenue in Norfolk will be closed for light rail construction.
Brambleton between I-264 and Park Avenue and the Brambleton exit will be closed as crews work on the elevated stop near Norfolk State University.
The construction work includes erecting steel beams at what will become the NSU Station. Crews will work 24-hours a day, seven days a week to complete the work by January 23, weather permitting.
To ensure safety, Norfolk police will direct traffic at key intersections. Pedestrian access will be limited during the placement of girders and at other times during the closure.
The detours are as follows:
Eastbound Detour Route:
At Brambleton Avenue & Park Avenue intersection, turn left onto Park Avenue.
Turn right onto Virginia Beach Boulevard.
Turn right onto Ballentine Boulevard.
Merge right onto I-264 West.
Take Exit #11 (Claiborne Avenue) onto Brambleton Avenue at Kimball Terrace.
Westbound Detour Route:
Turn left at the intersection of Campostella Road and Indian River Road.
Follow Indian River Road to Berkley Avenue.
Turn right onto Berkley Avenue and merge onto I-264 East.
Take Exit #10 (Tidewater Drive).
Continue on towards Brambleton Avenue.
