A car packed with eight teenagers overturned Saturday in Gates County,
North Carolina, ejecting three from the vehicle.
According to police, the teens were headed to a middle school basketball
tournament, when the 18-year-old driver took a turn too quickly. The
truck flipped and hit a ditch and continued onto the road before it
stopped. Everyone in the car was injured.
Two of the teenagers were brought to the trauma unit of Sentara Norfolk
General Hospital. One was listed in "very critical" condition Sunday
night. The others were taken to Obici Hospital.
The main cause of the crash was speed, officers said. The driver will be
cited with reckless driving.
