VIRGINIA BEACH – They’re off and running to pay tribute to America’s fallen service members.

The Virginia Run for the Fallen was started by George Lutz, whose son Tony was killed in Iraq seven years ago.

The trip began Thursday at 7:30 a.m. from Joint Expeditionary Base Little Creek-Fort Story and will end at Arlington National Cemetery on Sunday.

Along the way, runners will briefly stop to meet with family members of those killed in action since 9/11. On the first leg of the run, they were saluting fallen Navy SEALs with U.S. flags and memorial markers.

Follow their progress on the Va. Run for the Fallen Facebook page.
