NORFOLK--More than 100 boys and girls are taking part in two free summer camps put on by the Norfolk Sheriff Bob McCabe Foundation.

The first-ever Youth Summer Camp, which is a partnership with Norfolk Public Schools and the Girl Scouts of the Colonial Coast, is going on at Camp Apasus on Granby Street. Around 45 students are learning about canoeing, archery, swimming and more.

Over at Granby High School, about 75 youngsters are involved in the annual Basketball Camp for children ages 10-14.

As for the youngsters playing hard in the hot weather, Sheriff's Department spokeswoman Paula Miller said, "We have swimming and plenty of shade!"
