Plane Crashes at Air Show
LOUISA -- Virginia State Police is continuing its investigation into a plane crash Saturday morning at the Louisa County Airport, which is about an hour from Richmond.
Shortly after 11:00 a.m., troopers went to the airport after the pilot of a 1929 Fleet fixed-wing single-engine plane attempted to land, but experienced a malfunction with the plane's brakes. The plane ran off the runway and hit an embankment before it overturned and came to rest on the cockpit.
The pilot, 53-year-old Bryon Stewart of Warrenton, and his 17-year-old female passenger from Brandy Station, were not hurt.
The Federal Aviation Administration was notified and was on scene of the crash.
The plane was part of an air show at the airport.
