EDENTON, NC -- Police in Edenton are investigating the circumstances that led to three men being shot shortly after Midnight.
At 12:11 a.m., officers responded to a report of shots fired at the intersection of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue and Cox Avenue. When they arrived, they encountered a large crowd, but no victims. They were then told that three men had been taken to Chowan Hospital in a private vehicle with gunshot wounds.
According to police, medics subsequently airlifted one suspect, identified as 26-year-old Kenyetta Stevenson of Tyner, N.C. to Vidant Hospital in Greenville for treatment of gunshot wounds to his arm and abdomen. He's now listed in stable condition.
The second victim was identified as 28-year-old Rayshawn White of Edenton. He was transferred to Edenton's Vidant Hopsital where he is listed in serious condition with a gunshot wound to the abdomen.
The third victim, identified as 27 year-old Thomas White of Edenton, was treated for a gunshot wound to the leg and released.
Police are still investigating and didn't release any information regarding suspects or a motive.
