DARE COUNTY, NC - Someone's stealing items left in unlocked vehicles in the Manteo and Wanchese communities.

In the last week, the thief or thieves have taken electronics, cash and guns left in the a dozen vehicles on the North End of Roanoke Island and in Wanchese.

No locked cars have been entered, so it's important that everyone lock their vehicles, said Dare Co. Chief Deputy Steve Hoggard.

"Thieves will be expecting Christmas items to be stored in vehicles and will be looking for opportunities to take visible items," he said.

Anyone with information about the larcenies from vehicles, call the Dare County Sheriff’s Office 24/7 at 252-473-3444 or The Dare Community Crime Line at 252-473-3111.
