NORTHAMPTON COUNTY -- A 23-year-old man was shot to death on the Eastern Shore on Saturday.

Jessie Leon Jordan was killed around 2:00 a.m. at A&E Auto Repair at 8131 Sylvan Scene Drive in Machipongo. A neighbor of the shop drove him to the hospital, but he didn't survive.

One man who was next door to the party recalls hearing gunshots and seeing people fleeing the shop.

Chris Elder was in his friend's house next door to the auto shop Saturday morning when they both heard gunshots and ran outside to see what was going on.

Elder estimates that 50-75 people left the party immediately after the shots were fired.

While he was back inside his friend's house checking on the children, Elder says his friend came back and said he needed to drive a man to the hospital who had been shot.

Elder says his friend put Jordan into his car and drove him to the hospital where medics pronounced him dead.

"I just want to give my condolences to the family of the guy that was shot and say that guns are nothing to play around with.  Bullets don't know a home," says Elder.

"He was a good father and I was comfortable with my daughter marrying him. Everyone is in shock over his death," says Linda Bell.

Bell said he and her daughter started dating in high school and were planning a wedding.

Anyone with information should call the Northampton County Sheriff’s Office at 757-678-0458.
