An Accomack County man has been arrested and charged with malicious wounding after police say he shot a woman at a residence on Keller Pond Road.
Norris Ray Beasley, 22, of Onancock has been charged with malicious wounding, the use of a firearm in commission of a felony and discharging a firearm at an occupied building, Accomack County Sheriff Todd Godwin said Friday, July 18.
He was being held in the Accomack County Jail with bond denied.
Godwin did not release the name of the victim. Virginia law allows the custodian of criminal records to withhold the names of crime victims.
The sheriff’s office received the report of a subject with a gun at the residence July 10 near Keller and, while enroute, learned that shots had been fired and there was an injury, Godwin said.
“Following an investigation into this incident, it was determined that several individuals were present at this residence when a dispute occurred and the gunshots were fired,” Godwin said in a prepared release.
The victim was transported to the hospital and released.
