CURRITUCK, N.C. (AP) -- One of North Carolina's ferry runs is already switching to a winter schedule.
The ferry division of the North Carolina Department of Transportation says run between Currituck and Knotts Island begin its winter schedule Wednesday.
During the school year, the Currituck-Knotts Island schedule adds a ferry run to accommodate students who live on Knotts Island. Scheduled weekday departures from Currituck are at 6 a.m., 9 a.m. and 11 a.m., and at 1 p.m., 3:45 p.m., and 5:45 p.m. Return trips from Knotts Island scheduled for 6:50 a.m., 10 a.m., noon, 2 p.m., 4:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m.
The weekend schedule remains the same year-round.
The J.P. Knapp Early College High School opens Aug. 8. Other Currituck County schools begin Aug. 26.
